Family feud: Sonora, Modesto’s Central Catholic meet Friday for Division IV crown

Modesto’s Central Catholic may have dominated Stanislaus District football over the past few years – the Raiders have won back-to-back section, NorCal and state titles – but Sonora will dominate the Canepa Family’s dinner table at Thanksgiving. Hundreds turn out for annual Thanks-For-Giving dinner

The annual Thanks-For-Giving holiday dinner at Modesto Centre Plaza drew a huge crowd Thursday. Volunteers dished up plates of turkey and all the trimmings for attendees. Modesto entrepreneur Dan Costa and his family have hosted the event each Thanksgiving, when they and a team of volunteers serve hundreds of dinners. The dinner is intended to be a formal sit-down meal, served on china dishes to the needy or anyone who doesn’t have someplace to be for Thanksgiving.
