An Oakdale man suffered a broken ankle and other injuries when the motorcycle he was riding crashed near Jamestown Thursday afternoon. The California Highway Patrol said Keith Ray Crawford, 49, was riding a 1997 Honda south on Sims Road near Highway 120 when he took a turn too fast.
Driving-under-the-influence saturation patrols will be deployed this weekend from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. in Oakdale to assist the Oakdale Police Department during rodeo weekend.
Oak Valley Hospital's maternity ward will close, a reluctant governing board decided Wednesday night. The board voted 6-1 to shut the unit, which delivers about 250 babies a year and employs 20 people. The closure tentatively is set for July 2.
