We need a hoops revolution and we need it now. Otherwise the Stanislaus District will become irrelevant in the Sac-Joaquin Section — if we haven't already reached that point. We get little respect from Sacramento, Fresno and the Bay Area, and less from section officials who seed the playoffs.
Friday night's Sac-Joaquin Section championship games will feel like reunions, but without the hugs and kisses. Escalon and Hilmar meet in the Division 4 final. Oakdale and Del Oro battle for the Division 3 title again.
If you can run the ball and play some defense, chances are your season has at least one more week before it ends. Showing a willingness to commit to the ground game and being able to stop foes at key moments was the common thread for the Stanislaus District teams who celebrated with wins in the opening round of the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs.
