Names released in fatal Turlock stabbing

TURLOCK — Police released the names of the man fatally stabbed Saturday and the man they arrested in the assault. Police today identified the victim as 23-year-old Turlock resident Lamondrea Brown and the suspect as 52-year-old Turlock resident Arthur Maunakea.

Police said Maunakea was booked at the Stanislaus County Jail early today on suspicion of murder.

Officers responded Saturday afternoon to a report of aggravated assault in the 1200 block of North Olive Avenue, just north of Wayside Drive. Officers found Brown with a stab wound. He died from his injuries at a hospital.

Police said Brown and Maunakea knew each other through Maunakea's niece's adult daughter.
