SAN FRANCISCO -- It was better late than never for the Cal State Stanislaus women's soccer team on Sunday as a late Lisa Garcia goal lifted the Warriors to a 1-0 win over San Francisco State in the season finale.
Garcia scored her 11th goal of the season at 82:58 to help Stanislaus finish the 2009 campaign with 10-9-1 overall record, making it the program's eighth winning season in the last nine years.
The Warriors were 6-9-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
"This was a good way to end the season," Warriors head coach Gabriel Bolton said.
STANISLAUS MEN TIE -- Victor Regalado scored his CCAA-leading 13th goal of the year as the CSU Stanislaus men tied San Francisco State 1-1. The Warriors completed their best regular season since joining the CCAA -- 11-6-2 overall and 8-6-2 in conference. Only the 1991 team had as many victories as this year's squad since the program was upgraded to NCAA Division II.
