40 YEARS AGO: Ninety-eight Modesto students ran, threw, jumped and pulled their way to winning Presidential Physical Fitness Awards.

Roosevelt Junior High School had the most award winners with 32. Other schools that had students with the achievement were Downey High, Mark Twain Junior High, Sutter Elementary, Washington Elementary and Everett Elementary.
