Bakery outlets have been around for decades and are a great source of name-brand products at bargain prices. Savings can be as much as a $1 on packages of hot dog or burger buns.

Once called "day-old bread stores," these retailers used to mean "stale" to shoppers. But that's not the case in outlets owned by bread chains. The products stocked must be sold within the company's freshness guidelines. And the packages are not all leftovers; the buns and loaves are often the result of overproduction.

To find a discount bread store near your neighborhood, check out the Web site BakeryOutlets.com.
