Sisk had stopped for coffee May 3 at 10 p.m. at Swaid's Food & Gas, 800 W. Hatch Road. He was inside Swaid's when he saw a man in his driver's seat trying to steal his truck. He ran outside and jumped on the truck, trying to get inside. The man began to drive away. He ran over Sisk, 31, who suffered major injuries to the head and chest. Sisk was pronounced dead at Doctors Medical Center. About 11 p.m., officers found Sisk's truck abandoned on Lombardy Street in Modesto.
The suspect shot Sandoval-Preciado, 31, while he was sitting in his car in the 1200 block of Vito Avenue at 1:13 a.m. He was talking to a friend standing in front of a house when the suspect approached in a green compact car and fired several shots. Sandoval-Preciado was hit multiple times. He was taken to Doctors Medical Center and died a two days later.
Garcia, 29, was walking on Rutherford Street and Inyo Avenue on March 22 when a white vehicle approached him. Someone fired several shots from inside the vehicle, hitting Garcia. The vehicle drove west on Inyo. Garcia was taken to Doctors Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Garcia was a father of six children and was walking to the store to buy diapers when the shooting occurred.
Miles, 39, was involved in a fight on March 3 in the parking lot of the Other Place Bar on Yosemite Boulevard. Officers responded and found him unconscious in the street. Miles was taken to Memorial Medical Center where he later died of injuries. Officials said he suffered a heart attack during the attack.
Taylor, 19, of Oakley was in the front seat of a vehicle in the parking lot of a nightclub at 4905 N. Golden State Blvd. A fight occurred about 2 a.m. and shots were fired. One of the bullets went through the windshield of Taylor's car and hit him in the head. Deputies did not find anyone injured at the club, but a 911 caller told police he was lost in downtown Modesto and was looking for a hospital because his friend had been shot at a Turlock bar. Taylor was taken to a local hospital, but died from his injuries.
Officers and detectives investigated an early morning shooting at the Heritage Inn, 1525 McHenry Ave. Gray, 19, was shot and died in the parking lot. According to witnesses, some friends had gotten a room for a party. Around midnight, someone from a different group upstairs came down and accused someone at the party of shooting several Latino men at a birthday party in west Modesto on Dec. 23. Police had already arrested a man in connection with that shooting.

When deputies arrived they found Cervantes and Antonio Rivera inside with gunshot wounds. Cervantes was taken by helicopter to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, and Rivera by ambulance to Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock. Both died of their wounds shortly after arrival.

Sanchez, 27, was found shot and investigators named Sergio Govea Mendoza as a suspect. Police said the investigation and evidence indicated that Sanchez had lured Mendoza to 1120 Ninth St. to steal drugs from him. Police said Sanchez assaulted Mendoza with a pipe, then Mendoza shot Sanchez.
McCarthy, 46, lived with his brother in a duplex on Bridgeford Lane in north Modesto. Shortly before 2 a.m., police say three men broke into the house to steal medical marijuana. The suspects confronted McCarthy and his brother. When McCarthy resisted, police said, the suspects shot him dead. McCarthy's brother was assaulted and suffered minor injuries.
Moses Rodriguez Jr., 25, and Peralta, 16, both of Turlock died when they were shot in the head in south Turlock in the 900 block of Kerley Lane. According to the witnesses, a large group of people in about 20 cars drove to Kerley Lane around midnight early Sunday after hearing about a party at a home at 986 Kerley Lane. As people parked nearby, a band of teenagers was vandalizing the home and nearby cars. The teens threw rocks through house windows, slashed car tires and smashed car windows. Some men in the group arriving at the party confronted the vandals. Then gunfire erupted. People scattered and ran. Rodriguez and Peralta were hit.

Ross, 28, was stabbed to death July 5 as he walked home after work in Oakdale. Ross' body was found about 5:30 a.m. in the 500 block of West F Street under a driveway overhang. He was on his way home from The Dugout, a sports bar he owned. An autopsy showed Ross was stabbed three times, the fatal blow hitting his aorta. No weapon has been found.
Three men got into an argument inside The Ranch Bar and Grill in the 1000 block of South Ninth Street about 10 minutes after midnight on April 3. One of the men pulled a handgun and fired several rounds, hitting two brothers. Gonzalez, 27, of Modesto was killed in the shooting. Jose Adan Acevedo Gonzalez, 22, of Modesto was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. No further information about him was available. A third victim, a woman, was hit in the leg by a bullet that went through a wooden chair; she later was released.
