Authorities say Rene Luna Navarro was shot in the early morning of hours July 5 as he stood in front of his home in the 600 block of Thrasher Avenue between Oregon Drive and Larkin Avenue. He died the following Wednesday.
Stanislaus County coroner officials said Eliazar Hernandez, 16, of Modesto, was fatally wounded after he was shot in the unincorporated neighborhood east of South Ninth Street and south of the Tuolumne River. He was hit by stray gunfire during an apparent gang fight, although neighbors said he wasn't involved in the fight or associated with gangs.
Marysville resident Quirino Toledo, 15, was found dead Oct. 11 after being run over by a truck in a south Modesto alley. Moments before, the boy had been shot. The shooting appeared to be gang-related.
