Modesto

TEEN DRIVER SAFETY

When: Wednesday, 7 p.m.

Where: California Highway Patrol office, 4030 Kiernan Ave.

Info: The Modesto California Highway Patrol is offering a free driver safety interactive presentation for parents and teens ages 14-19. A certificate will be awarded to each teen upon completion. The classes cover some of the dangers teen drivers face and provides information for the parents of teen drivers. Space is limited; to register, call officer Parsons at 545-7440, ext. 342.

SOCIAL CLUB MEETING

When: Thursday, 6 p.m.

Where: El Palomar restaurant, 3105 McHenry Ave.

Info: The Central Valley Social Club meets the second and fourth Thursdays of the month. For more information, call Wendy at 579-7108.

SUMMER HIKING ADVENTURES

When: Wednesdays, July 1-22

Where: Great Valley Museum, 1100 Stoddard Ave.

Info: For children ages 8-12, hike and explore local recreation areas with Modesto Junior College hiking instructor Lara Brotslaw. Along the trail, kids will learn about hiking techniques, outdoor safety, orienteering, animal tracks, plants and other natural history tidbits. Preregistration is required. Escalon

WESTERN DANCE

When: Today, 1 p.m.

Where: Escalon Community Center, 1055 Escalon Ave.

Info: A Western dance for the whole family is held the third Sunday of each month. Passes to Funworks and Galaxy 12 Theatres, along with door prizes and raffle prizes, will be given out. There will be refreshments musical entertainment by Down Home Country. The cost is $4 per person. For more information, call 838-3346.

Riverbank

CAR SHOW ENTRIES NEEDED

When: Wednesday, 5 to 8 p.m.

Where: Riverbank Farmers Market, Santa Fe and Sixth streets

Info: The Riverbank Farmers Market will be hosting its fourth annual car show featuring autos, trucks and motorcycles from throughout the area. Owners who want to display their custom, classic, rare, vintage or project cars, trucks or motorcycles are encouraged to participate. There is no fee to display vehicles.
