After winning only one of its first four games this season, Johansen was looking to gain some momentum heading into this week's Modesto Metro Conference with Modesto.

Deven Cannon made sure the Vikings achieved their goal, rushing for a career-high 222 yards and scoring three TDs in a 33-12 win over Bear Creek. Cannon had rushed for 151 and 154 yards in two earlier games, and has 652 yards in five games.

"Deven runs with great vision and has improved his speed and strength," coach Jason McCoy said.

The Vikings pair the 5-foot-6-inch, 155-pound Cannon with 5-11, 180-pound William Corbin in the backfield, with Deven doing much of his work outside the tackles and Corbin going into the line.

"Deven and William compliment each other very well," McCoy noted. "Deven is our version of 'lightning' and William is our version of 'thunder.' "
