JOSH EDWARDS, Ceres quarterback

Taking a winless team on the road to face The Bee's No. 2 large-school team didn't faze Josh Edwards. He was 21 for 34 for 330 yards and four TDs and within a two-point conversion of victory before Sonora escaped 35-34.

"It was one of the most exciting games I have been associated with in my 21-year coaching career," Ceres coach Brett Johnson said. "Josh did a great job keeping plays alive, moving in the pocket, constantly keeping his eyes downfield."

Edwards' 39-yard TD pass with three seconds left made it a one-point game, but he was sacked on the two-point attempt. Three receivers had at least 93 yards as Edwards spread the ball.

"The key ingredient was confidence and focus," Johnson said. "On the final play, Justin Canatsy was able to get behind the soft zone that Sonora was playing and Josh threw a great ball."
