Modesto receiver
Though the Panthers have had their struggles, losing six of their first seven on the field -- a loss was later ruled a win due to forfeit -- they've been entertaining with their spread offense and passing game.
The only difference against Downey was that Joseph Giglio was on the receiving end of Chris Bradley's throws. The 6-foot-4-inch, 185-pound senior caught eight passes for 165 yards and four touchdowns as Modesto rallied from a 27-7 deficit for a 56-42 Modesto Metro Conference win, keeping its playoff hopes alive. The Panthers have a must-win game against Johansen on Friday.
Giglio, playing in the shadows of teammates Bryan Johnson and Daniel McClellan much of the season, had TD catches of 7 and 15 yards in the fourth quarter.
His 40-yard TD grab just before halftime brought the Panthers to within 34-28, then he sealed the victory with his 15-yard scoring catch in the final minutes.
