Roundup: Patterson, Summerville score key victories

PATTERSON -- It was the Cody Weinzheimer show Friday night at Patterson High School.

Weinzheimer threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more to lead the host Tigers, who scored touchdowns on seven of their 23 total offensive plays, to a convincing 62-31 victory over Livingston.

Weinzheimer completed 4 of 5 passes for 185 yards, including touchdowns to Wyatt Young (65 yards), Ramon Ellington (79) and Nick Ward (27) for Patterson (5-3, 3-0 Western Athletic Conference). Weinzheimer also parlayed seven carries into 60 yards, includings scores of 1 and 59 yards.

Nathan Shelton also had a big game on the ground for the Tigers, breaking loose for touchdown runs of 5 and 54 yards.

Patterson had 319 yards of offense alone in the first half.

Quarterback Rudy Lopez had a 20-yard touchdown pass to Jesus Gonzalez and a 9-yard TD toss to Jasdeep Dhonota for Livingston (5-2, 1-1).

SUMMERVILLE 31, CALAVERAS 21, at Tuolumne City -- Zach Roberson threw for two touchdowns, Garrett Burns ran for one TD and caught another, and the Bears (7-1, 3-0 Mother Lode League) defeated the Redskins (4-4, 2-1).

Burns had a 5-yard touchdown run and caught a 56-yard TD toss from Roberson, who also connected with Dustin Perkins on a 19-y7ard scoring completion for Summerville, The Bee's No. 5 small-school team.

Burns totaled 267 yards, catching pass for 174 of those. Roberson completed 21 of 40 pass attempts with one interception, finishing with 379 passing yards.

ARGONAUT 48, BRET HARTE 0, at Jackson -- Mark Garbarini and Steven Bennett each ran for more than 100 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Mustangs (5-3, 2-1 MLL) to a victory over the Bullfrogs (3-5, 1-2).

Garbarini carried 10 times for 148 yards and scored on runs of 1 and 2 yards. Bennett needed just five carries to gain 111 yards and had scoring runs of 36 and 14 yards for Argonaut, which rushed for 377 yards total. Daniel Welch had a 51-yard touchdown run and finished with 88 yards in six attempts.

Bryce Zaffarano caught a 31-yard touchdown pass from Brad Steuble, and Ruff Ellyson had a 25-yard field goal to go along with six PATs for the Mustangs.

BROOKSIDE CHRISTIAN 43, BIG VALLEY CHRISTIAN 0, at Big Valley Christian -- Tre Somerville scored on a 1- and 2-yard runs to lead the Knights (6-2, 2-0 Harvest Christian League) past the Lions (5-3, 2-1).
