PATTERSON -- The key to success in football is knowing what adjustments to make at halftime.
Modesto proved that on Friday night.
After rushing for only 24 yards in the first two quarters, the Panthers (2-3) turned the ball over to James Ingram (11 carries, 143 yards) and Arquel Rogers (19 carries, 123 yards), who rolled up a touchdown apiece and a combined 266 yards rushing to overtake the Tigers 27-18.
Patterson, which defeated Modesto last year and was coming off a victory over Downey last week, fell to 2-3.
Modesto scored first, as Ingram ran in from the 1 in the first period. But Patterson answered as Cody Weinzheimer (15 of 28, 248 yards, four interceptions) found Nick Ward from the 18 in the second quarter and Efrim Jones ran in from the eight in the third quarter to take a 12-7 lead.
Patterson's Wyatt Young had six catches for 117 yards and Nick Ward had six for 100.
Modesto took the lead in the fourth quarter on a 25-yard run from Rogers and sealed it with a minute to go on a 2-yard run from quarterback Miller.
