If you're a high school football fanatic, or merely a fan, here are games that should provide plenty of bang for your buck:

GAME OF THE WEEK

ST. MARY'S (3-1) at CENTRAL CATHOLIC (3-1) -- The visitors fell only to NorCal No. 1 Bellarmine Prep of San Jose and beat Lincoln of Stockton 28-22 last week. QB Cody Vaz has committed to Oregon State and WR Josh Harper is the son of former 49ers LB Willie Harper. Central Catholic has back-to-back shutouts, but hasn't faced a QB like Vaz since ... last year, when St. Mary's won 45-41.

ELSEWHERE

LOS BANOS (3-2, 1-0) vs. MERCED (3-1, 0-0) at Merced College -- CCC folks have been waiting for this: LB is No. 5 in the Stanislaus District and the Bears are No. 1. Dennis Stubbs used to coach Golden Valley, so he's got experience with Merced and a potent attack led by QB Erik Martin. The Tigers shut down Turlock RB Tharon Gallegos last week, but can they stop Merced's Stephon Mathis -- the district's No. 1 rusher?

SIERRA (3-1, 1-0) at MANTECA (4-0, 1-0) -- Is this the year the Timberwolves break into the VOL's top three, or will perennial power Manteca retain its grip? The No. 4 large-school Buffs have a familiar look -- a strong RB, a stingy defense -- but Sierra is capable of putting up plenty of points.

GUSTINE (3-1) at WATERFORD (1-3) -- A great opportunity for folks on the east side to see Felix Figueroa, a sturdy RB who has the Redskins flying high. Waterford needs a win to get momentum going into next week's Southern League opener.

PATTERSON (3-1) vs. MODESTO (0-4) at Downey High -- Tigers want to go 2 for 2 against the Modesto Metro Conference after toppling Downey 31-7 last week. Their speed compares favorably to Modesto and FB Nathan Shelton goes between the tackles. Turnovers and penalties are hurting Modesto, but RB Arquel Rogers will like the artificial surface.

HILMAR (4-0) at ARGONAUT (2-2) -- The Yekllowjackets feel their defense is good enough to win the Western Athletic Conference. A dominant outing against the Mustangs would make it difficult to argue.
