MARCH OF DIMES -- March for Babies is a national effort to raise dollars to support the March of Dimes mission of preventing birth defects and infant mortality through research, education, community services and advocacy. About 1,000 individuals and business teams are expected to participate in fund-raising events that will take place April 25 at Graceada Park in Modesto, May 2 at Dr. Powers Park in Tracy and May 16 at Weber Point Event Center in Stockton. Volunteers are needed at all events to assist with setup and cleanup, registration, act as human sign guides and serve refreshments. Flexible shifts are available between 6 a.m. and

1 p.m. Individuals may also help babies get a healthy start by signing up on their own or with a team to gather pledges and participate to raise dollars for the fight to save babies.

MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS SOCIETY OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA -- Walk MS will take place April 25 at Downey Park in Modesto. Volunteers 15 and older are needed to assist with setup/decorations, greet participants, volunteer registration, breakfast and lunch, traffic control and walker motivation along route, prize distribution, and site breakdown.

SIERRA VISTA CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES -- The 17th annual Sierra Vista Golf Tournament will be held April 24 at the Turlock Golf and Country Club and offers a day of golf, food and fun while supporting abused, neglected and emotionally disturbed children and families in crisis. Volunteers 21 and older are needed to assist with games, special hole contests, setup of raffle items, refreshments, etc. between

10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Volunteers 16 and up are also needed to assist with setup and player registration between 7 a.m. and noon and to assist with cleanup and tear-down of the course between 4 and 8 p.m. The 6-person Handicap Scramble registration opens at 10:30 a.m., with the shotgun start at noon. The entry fee is $250 per person and includes lunch, golf cart, player gifts, awards, on-course refreshments and dinner. Entry fees and registration forms must be received by April 10.
