Set in 1930s rural America, Murphys Creek Theatre's staging of Shakespeare's comedy features respected Modesto actor Jack Souza in a whopping three roles. He shines in all of them and nails the play's most famous monologue, "All the world's a stage." The tree-ringed amphitheater where the show is staged is as pleasant a spot as you could want for picnicking, sipping wine and viewing the stars.
Through July 14 at the open-air Cornelia B. Stevenot Performing Arts Center, Stevenot Winery, 2690 San Domingo Road, Murphys. $13-$22; 736-4237 or www.murphyscreektheatre.org.

ODD COUPLE FEMALE VERSION
A twist on Neil Simon's 1965 classic comedy about a neurotic neat freak who rooms with a slob, the show offers plentyof laugh-out-loud moments and works well as light summer entertainment. Never mean-spirited, the play is a celebration of friendship and an argument for tolerance for human weakness.
Through July 22 at Stage 3 Theatre, 208 S. Green St., Sonora. $10-$15; 536-1778 or www.stage3.org.
