Police: men in women's clothes steal baby formula

The Associated PressJuly 17, 2014

— Authorities say two men dressed in women's clothing and carrying purses were among three arrested on suspicion of stealing baby formula from stores in Glendale.

The Long Beach Press-Telegram reported Wednesday (http://bit.ly/1oJWhQk ) that 20-year-old Darrin Lamont White and 25-year-old Edward Stephen Nino face burglary charges.

They were taken into custody Tuesday after being caught stuffing cans of formula into their purses at a Rite Aid store, and then leaving without paying.

Police searched their car and found two dozen more cans of formula, some of which were reported stolen from a nearby Vons store.

A third man, 28-year-old Samuel Frank, was also arrested.

Law enforcement officials have noted that thieves have been targeting baby items, especially pricey baby formula, to sell on the black market.
