I-215 reopened after truck strikes bridge

The Associated PressJuly 16, 2014

— Traffic is flowing again on Interstate 215 in Riverside County following a shutdown caused when a truck struck an unfinished overpass, sending portions of a wooden and steel framework into lanes.

California Highway Patrol Officer Marcelo Llerena says all lanes were reopened before dawn Wednesday after crews removed sections of the damaged support structure. The bridge itself was not damaged.

The CHP says the truck hauling sand was on the northbound side Tuesday morning when it veered to the right, went over a concrete barrier and hit the bridge support.

The driver wasn't hurt.
