— Police are investigating a shooting that left a 27-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his torso. Investigators believe is gang-related.

Police were called to apartments in the 200 block of Gilbert Avenue at 12:17 a.m. Sunday. They found the man with a single gunshot wound to his upper torso, police said in a news release.

The victim, identified as William Hernandez of Oakdale, was taken to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, where he was treated and released for a “through and through” wound, police said.

Investigators believe the incident occurred at the 7-11 store at 1130 W. F St. in Oakdale. Police said Hernandez and his 15-year-old cousin had stopped at the store to make a purchase.

As the two left, a man inside a parked sports utility vehicle yelled at Hernandez and fired a single shot from a silver revolver.

Police released a photo of a man they are seeking in connection to the case. Investigators ask anyone with information on the case to contact Sgt. Brian Shimmel at (209) 847-2231.
