Toasty Monday in Modesto, followed by a bit of relief

Bee Staff ReportsJuly 14, 2014

There’s good news and then more good news on the weather front.

First, while it reached a toasty 100 degrees in downtown Modesto on Monday, according to the Modesto Irrigation District, that fell short of the National Weather Service’s predicted high of 102.

The other good news is that Monday was to be the hottest day of the week. Today’s high is expected to be 95, followed by 92 on Wednesday, with highs in the low 90s at least through Friday.

Lows will dip into the mid-60s, then the low 60s later in the week.

The system moving through the area has enough moisture to bring the possibility of thunderstorms to the Sierra Nevada, forecasters said. The Northern San Joaquin Valley will see only a few high clouds.
