Regarding Defend borders like your front door (Letters, July 3): In one simple sentence, the letter writer summed up exactly our dilemma as a country. No need for race, religion, fleeing from persecution, all of the buzz words used to validate illegal immigration. Who would let a stranger in their home who hasnt knocked first?
We struggle every day as a country to do the right thing, but it is taking a toll every day on our ability to receive affordable and prompt medical care, education and, in some isolated cases, safety. I want to do the right thing and I feel empathy for those forced to flee their countries, but I will not open my door to a stranger and endanger my family
