Ah, another Independence Day! Fireworks, barbecues, tributes to fallen heroes. The annual Declaration of Independence reprint in The Bee. One does wonder if Jefferson, Madison and the Founding Dads envisioned an America in which corporations, disguised as people, can buy their Congress; in which employers are free to impose their religious views of motherhood on employees; in which authorities may legally eavesdrop on citizens. If Tommy Jefferson, one author of that Declaration, was right in suggesting that a nation needs a revolution every 20 years to remain honest, we are wayyyy overdue.
