Bonnie Weese: Illegal fireworks must be stopped

July 7, 2014

For over the last five years, we have been forced to endure the noise and danger from our neighbors using illegal fireworks and discharging weapons in the county. Despite several calls to the sheriff’s office each Fourth of July and New Year’s Eve, these neighbors are free to set off illegal fireworks and shoot guns all night for several nights in a row. The noise and potential fire threats keep us and our pets awake. What options do good citizens of Stanislaus County have? Is there any place we can take our pets away from illegal fireworks? Maybe it’s time to leave if we can’t count on law enforcement to enforce the laws!
