What: SONS IN RETIREMENT MEETING

Info: Sons in Retirement, Branch 144, a nonprofit club for retired men, meets monthly to give members and guests an opportunity to renew friendships; discuss issues of local and national interest; and plan participation in scheduled activities such as golf, bowling, fishing and travel. YESTERYEARS

25 YEARS AGO: It was announced that then-Gov. George Deukmejian had appointed William G. Polley of Twain Harte to a newly created position on the Tuolumne Superior Court. Polley had been an attorney in private practice in Sonora and previously had served as a Tuolumne County assistant district attorney.
