What: MJC REPUBLICAN CLUB MEETING

Where: Modesto Junior College student center, 435 College Ave.

Info: Jack Mobley, Republican candidate for state Assembly District 21, will speak at the MJC Republicans Club meeting. There will be a question-and-answer period, also. What: WEIGHT-LOSS WORKSHOP

When: Wednesday, 6 p.m.

Where: Stanislaus County Library, 1500 I St.

Info: Chris M. Cake, D.C., wellness consultant and local volunteer with the Foundation for Wellness Professionals, will present a free workshop titled “How to Turn Your Body into a Fat Burning Machine.” It is open to the public and will cover five tips to weight loss. What: FAMILY & FELLOWSHIP FOURTH

When: Friday, 4 p.m.

Where: First Presbyterian Church, 2619 Berkeley Ave.

Info: A Fourth of July celebration featuring jazz and praise music by Jim Martinez and Friends will be followed by a potluck in the picnic area at 6:30 p.m. The evening will end with a fireworks display.
