Cake, D.C., wellness consultant and local volunteer with the Foundation for Wellness Professionals, will present a free workshop titled “How to Turn Your Body into a Fat Burning Machine.” It is open to the public and will cover five tips to weight loss. Where: First Presbyterian Church, 2619 Berkeley Ave.

Info: A Fourth of July celebration featuring jazz and praise music by Jim Martinez and Friends will be followed by a potluck in the picnic area at 6:30 p.m. The evening will end with a fireworks display. 50 YEARS AGO: William M. Nicholson Jr., manager of the installment loan department of the main Modesto branch of the Bank of California, was to become the new president of the Modesto Junior Chamber of Commerce.
