TURLOCK — A week after a family of four was found dead inside a north Turlock home, police have not released any details about the circumstances of the deaths.
The bodies of a couple and their two adult children were found in their home June 26 by a concerned family member who hadn’t heard from them for some time.
Turlock police said the family had been dead at least 24 hours, likely more, prior to being discovered.
Police said last week that the deaths were being investigated as murder-suicide.
Despite all four autopsies being completed Tuesday and days of investigation in between, Sgt. Stephen Webb said Wednesday that he would not release any new details until detectives have completed their investigation.
He would not say how the family died, if someone is suspected of being the killer or if the bodies were burned.
Turlock firefighters also are investigating because there was an “element of arson,” police said last week.
The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office officially identified the youngest member of the family, 39-year-old Rodney Bowman, who legally changed his name from Radni Babakhan. Sgt. Larry Seymour said his office is working on obtaining dental records to officially identify the other family members.
Public records show Bowman’s parents as Sarkis and Rozmary Babakhan, who resided at the home in the 3000 block of Red Oak Court. Their older son, who was developmentally disabled, is 42-year-old Robert Babakhan, according to a family friend.
A family member who lives around the corner from the home said Wednesday that she wasn’t ready to talk about her loss. “I’m not myself right now,” she said.
In front of the Red Oak Court home, a solemn memorial pays respect to the dead.
Four candles are gathered around the trunk of a tree.
Four bouquets of pink, lavender and peach roses and bright-orange chrysanthemums form a semicircle around the welcome mat on the front porch. A pair of men’s flipflops and women’s sandals sit propped against the house.
Next to the path that leads to the porch, a “happy birthday” sign lay face down in the earth Wednesday. Rozmary Babakhan’s 70th birthday was the day before her body was discovered, and Bowman’s 40th birthday was Tuesday.
