What: VALLEY SUPER SINGLES MEETING

Riverbank

What: UNCLE JER’S TRAVELING BEE SHOW

When: Monday, 1 p.m.

Where: Riverbank branch of the Stanislaus County Library, 3442 Santa Fe Street

Info: Children will learn about the fascinating and complex society of bees in a lively presentation. Uncle Jer will explain how and why bees pollinate plants, how honey is made and harvested, why there are different kinds of honey and why bees swarm. Participants will get to feel and smell real beeswax and honey frames. For more information, call the Riverbank library at (209) 869-7008.


Patterson

What: LEGO DAY

When: Today, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Where: Patterson branch of the Stanislaus County Library, 46 N. Salado

Info: Have creative fun with Lego blocks. Creations made during the program will be displayed in the children’s room. Lego play helps children develop fine motor skills. Children under 4 are welcome but must have direct adult supervision. For more information, call the Patterson library at (209) 892-6473.


Salida

What: MOVIE NIGHT

When: Saturday, sunset about 8:30 p.m.

Where: Downtown Salida ballpark, Magnolia Street and Broadway Avenue

Info: Salida Little League is presenting Summer Family Movie Nights. The night’s film will be “The Lego Movie.” Bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on. Cost is $1 per person, which includes popcorn. For more information, call Monica Evans at (209) 345-9853 or Josh Look at (209) 552-5384.


Twain Harte

What: BUSINESS TO BUSINESS MIXER

When: Tuesday, 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Where: Immanuel Lodge, 23613 Confidence South Fork Road

Info: Business to Business Mixer is a fundraising event for Film Fest Twain Harte. Tickets are $10 per person. Hosts will be Roger and Judy Haughton. The event will include social networking, appetizers and a no-host bar including sodas and nonalcoholic beverages. For more information, call (209) 586-4482.


YESTERYEARS

40 YEARS AGO: Downey High School and Roosevelt Junior High School were each to have a mobile home placed on their grounds. Each mobile home would have a family living in it as a deterrent to campus vandalism. A zoning exception was granted on a year’s trial by the Modesto City Council.
