Temperatures rise in Modesto area, people dip

June 30, 2014

When the going got hot, many of the hot got wet Monday, whether in pools, reservoirs or rivers.

According to the Modesto Irrigation District, which gathers weather data downtown and at Modesto Reservoir, the high on Monday was 102. That’s well above the historic average for the final day of June – 91 degrees – but short of the record-high 108 degrees recorded in 1950.

The National Weather Service forecast for the rest of the week is more heat and sun, with 100 degrees expected Tuesday, gradually declining to 95 by the Fourth.
