Suspects sought in Gustine assault

— Police are looking for two men suspected of attacking a third.

According to Gustine police, officers responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at 7:51 p.m. Tuesday.

They arrived at Second Street and Second Avenue to find a large group of people surrounding a man on the ground who was covered with blood. Witnesses told police two men were involved in the assault; they ran away just before officers got there.

The victim was taken by helicopter to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

Police found pieces of a beer bottle, covered in blood, at the scene. Officers searched a nearby apartment where one suspect was believed to be, but didn’t find him.

Investigators believe the incident was gang-related.

Police are looking for Dillon Gray, described as Latino, wearing a black hat, black shirt and black pants and black Nike Cortez sneakers, and a second suspect, an unidentified Latino man wearing a red and black shirt, red and gray plaid shorts and red shoes.
