MID OKs PAY TO FINISH WATER PLAN

Modesto Irrigation District leaders agreed Tuesday to pay a consultant up to $50,000 to enable the district to finish a water plan that’s been seven years in the making. The Irrigation Training and Research Center at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, which has helped MID before, is expected to help complete the Comprehensive Water Resources Management Plan by year’s end. It could feature design options for small reservoirs that would conserve water and improve delivery to farmers. The MID board also switched its retirement investing to Prudential Trust Co. Both votes were 3-0, with board members Larry Byrd, Paul Campbell and Jake Wenger in favor and Nick Blom and John Mensinger absent.
