Blaze burns near Tuolumne River

June 22, 2014

Modesto Regional Fire Authority firefighters were busy Sunday afternoon battling a vegetation fire in the undeveloped area of Tuolumne River Regional Park near the Carpenter Road Bridge. Firefighters quickly controlled the fire, holding the spread to one acre. Crews were on scene for 1 1⁄2 hours. Modesto Regional officials have noted that the area between the city of Modesto wastewater-treatment plant and the Carpenter Road Bridge has been the site of numerous vegetation fires over the past two weeks. The majority of the fires appear to have been intentionally set. If anyone has any information regarding these fires, contact the Fire Investigation Division at (209) 491-5722.
