Coin collectors unite at expo in Modesto

The Modesto Coin & Collectibles Expo opened Saturday and continues today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Modesto Centre Plaza, 10th and K streets downtown. Admission is free, and there are door prizes and a junior program for kids to keep interest in the the hobby growing. Children can earn America the Beautiful quarters by completing games. Diana Mindov, 11, a seventh-grader at Roosevelt Junior High in Modesto, and her little brother, Aleksandar, 9, a fourth-grader at Enslen Elementary, talked coins with Sharyn Brown at the expo on Saturday morning. Brown works with the junior program of the Stanislaus County Coin Club.
