Two arrested, one sought in Modesto burglary

June 18, 2014

Modesto police detectives conducting surveillance on three burglary suspects reportedly caught them in the act early Wednesday morning.

Working on a tip that the suspects had previously committed commercial burglaries, detectives followed the men to the Del Taco on Sylvan Avenue and Oakdale Road and watched as they attempted to break in at about 4:30 a.m., said Modesto police spokesperson Heather Graves.

When the suspects saw police, they got into a car and fled, prompting a 1.5 mile pursuit. The car chase ended at Floyd Avenue and Vera Cruz Drive, where the suspects got out of the car and ran.

Officers detained Alex Ambroziac, 29, and Steven Anderson, 32, both of Modesto, but the third suspect remains at large.

Detectives later searched the suspects’ home and found stolen property from three previous commercial burglaries, Graves said. Ambroziac and Anderson were arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property, evading and resisting arrest.
