State title has a ring to it

June 13, 2014

Modesto Christian High School’s girls basketball team received their state championship rings at an awards dinner Friday night at Modesto Christian Elementary School.

The Crusaders (27-8) defeated Santa Barbara High School 64-55 on March 28 at Sacramento’s Sleep Train Arena for the first state title in the program’s history.

Modesto Mayor Garrad Marsh was on hand Friday to give MC coach Robb Spencer a key to the city. The MC players were also surprised by the unveiling of the state championship banner in the school’s gymnasium, and each player was presented with a commemorative edition Crystal milk carton featuring the school’s logo on the side to honor the team’s achievement.
