Stanislaus home prices continue to soar

Bee Staff ReportsJune 13, 2014

Stanislaus County home prices jumped again in May, but the sales volume slumped.

The median sales price rose to $207,750, which is nearly 23 percent higher than a year ago and $8,250 more than what homes sold for in April, according to property records gathered by DataQuick.

Only 562 houses closed escrow this May, however, which was an 8.5 percent decline from the same month last year.

A decade ago when the housing market was booming, it was typical for more than 1,000 Stanislaus County homes to sell each month.
