Fire comes close to McHenry Avenue car dealership in Modesto

Bee Staff ReportsJune 11, 2014

A fire burned several acres of vegetation behind a McHenry Avenue car dealership Wednesday, damaging an outbuilding to a nearby ranch house.

Modesto Regional Fire Authority Battalion Chief Hugo Patino said the fire started in an old almond orchard behind Roberts Auto Sales, south of Kiernan Avenue.

It neared the dealership’s fence and several homes and bungalows south of it but firefighters stopped it from spreading that far. Patino said the only damage was to the outbuilding behind the farmhouse.

The fire burned about two acres. The cause is under investigation.
