What: VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION MEETING

When: Saturday, 10 a.m.

Where: Carnegie Arts Center, 250 N. Broadway

Info: The Carnegie Arts Center is seeking volunteers to work in several roles. Opportunities include customer service, special events, clerical and exhibitions. Docents to give tours and lead programs are also needed. All volunteers will receive training specific to their duties. Volunteers should be at least 15 and willing to commit to at least four hours per month. What: PYTHON RON AT THE LIBRARY

When: Thursday, 11 a.m.

Where: Stanislaus County Library, Keyes branch, 4430 Maud Ave.

Info: “Python Ron” McGee will bring members of the reptile kingdom to the Keyes library. During this special visit, live reptiles will be showcased and children will have the opportunity to learn about reptilian species. What: SENIOR FARMERS MARKET COUPON DISTRIBUTION

When: Wednesday, 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Where: Third Avenue between E and F streets

Info: The Senior Farmers Market Coupon Booklet will be distributed for seniors 60 or older with limited incomes of $1,799 for an individual or $2,425 for a couple, and who have not already received coupons this year. The booklet is worth $20 (10 coupons worth $2 each) to use the same as cash to purchase only fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs or honey at certified farmers markets. 75 YEARS AGO: The Modesto Junior College Symphonic Choir, under the direction of Edna Barr Love, was judged the best group among 12 mixed choral groups at the fourth annual spring music festival of the Southern California Junior College Music Association in Long Beach.
