Firefighters make gains on blaze near Don Pedro

— A fire that broke out near Don Pedro Reservoir Wednesday is 80 percent contained, authorities said Thursday.

The 59 fire, as it was named, was reported at 11:45 a.m. near Bonds Flat and La Grange Road near the reservoir in Tuolumne County.

According to Cal Fire spokesman Dennis Mathisen, the fire stood at 500 acres and was 80 percent contained Thursday afternoon. Cause of the fire has not been determined.
