CHP offers new information on vehicle in Highway 99 hit-and-run

Bee Staff ReportsJune 4, 2014

The California Highway Patrol released new information Wednesday about the car used in a fatal hit-and-run on Highway 99 last week.

After examining debris left at the scene, investigators have a better idea of the type of car the suspect was driving, said CHP officer Brandon Moore. He said the gray car might be a newer-model Nissan Pathfinder made after 2005.

The car struck and killed 24-year-old Alyssa Ashley Matthews as she was walking along southbound Highway 99 north of the Sixth Street overcrossing late Friday night.

The car likely has damage to the front right bumper and wheel well and possibly the headlight.

Anyone with information about the car or the incident is asked to call Moore or officer Koda Hudson at (209) 545-7440.
