After a mild start, Modesto warms up this week

June 2, 2014

— The work week is getting off to a somewhat cooler start, but the heat is set to return.

A weather system that could bring some rain to the mountains —but none, unfortunately, our way —has moved into the area, lowering temperatures a few degrees, the National Weather Service said.

A high of 89 is expected Monday, followed by a high of 88 Tuesday. Lows will be in the mid to upper 50s, forecasters say.

Temperatures start to rise on Wednesday, with a high of 94 expected, followed by an increase by a couple of degrees Thursday and Friday.

Still, there aren’t any triple digits in the forecast —yet.
