CHP to set up checkpoint south of Modesto on Friday night

Bee Staff ReportsMay 29, 2014

The California Highway Patrol will conduct a DUI/driver’s license checkpoint Friday from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. near south Modesto within the unincorporated area of Stanislaus County.

DUI checkpoints are a proven resource in reducing the number of people killed and injured in alcohol- or drug-involved crashes. Research shows that crashes involving alcohol drop by an average of 20 percent when well-publicized checkpoints are conducted often.

Officers will check drivers passing through the checkpoint for signs of alcohol or drug impairment and ensure that drivers are properly licensed.
