Neighbors help elderly man escape house fire in Turlock

May 27, 2014

— Neighbors helped get a 91-year-old man to safety when his home caught fire Tuesday afternoon.

The fire broke out at a home in the 1000 block of Tornell Avenue, south of Monte Vista Avenue.

Neighbor Michael Seymour said two men driving in the area saw smoke coming from the home. They jumped over a fence and broke into the home of the 91-year-old, who wasn’t even aware his house was on fire.

The men got the resident outside, and no one was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The origin and an estimate of the damage were not available Tuesday afternoon.
