Man hurt when motorcycle hits hillside in Tuolumne County

May 27, 2014

— A Los Banos man suffered major injuries after his motorcycle left the road and hit a hill Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

The accident occurred at 12:15 p.m. on Highway 49 just north of the Tuolumne/Mariposa county line, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Jorge Campos, 33, was driving a 2009 Suzuki GSXR750 north at 45 to 60 mph when he missed a curve and the cycle went off the road onto the shoulder on the east side. It hit a hillside, throwing Campos off.

Both Campos and the motorcycle came to rest on the right shoulder of the highway. Campos was taken by helicopter to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, the CHP said.
