Regarding Where do you think Syria got poison gas? (Letters, May 21): I cant say whether we attacked and occupied Iraq because of oil. But the writer claimed it was in retaliation for Saddams support of the 9/11 attack. What if Pakistan, Iran and Palestine had been supportive of the attack? Should we have attacked them as well? It would be a rather poor reason for going to war. Bush told Bob Woodward twice to blame it on Iraq. Woodward returned twice and said I cant. Iraq had nothing to do with it. A few years later, in a rare moment of honesty, Bush answered a question by saying Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11.
And I cannot help wondering why Bush sat for 17 minutes after being told the first building had been hit, not moving until the second was hit. I think any other president would have been out of there in less than a minute.
