Cal Kindred: You have eased my mind

May 23, 2014

I recently read the Jeff Jardine column “Former inmate targets Ph.D.” (Page B1, May 18). Thank you Jeff, for answering some of my questions as to what happened to this young man.

I was the foreman on the jury that convicted Joseph McCarty, and he often shows up in my thoughts. The trial took three weeks and we deliberated for nearly six days.

Needless to say it was not an easy decision to reach. During the trial he came across as a very bright young man who had made a horrible set of decisions. I am happy to hear he has turned his life around and I wish him the best.

I’d be just as interested to find out what happened to Robert Weston and Melissa Kinney, who was also at Robert’s house when the crime occurred.
