Driver veers off Highway 99 into vacant home

— A man crashed into a Ceres home Thursday after losing control of his vehicle on Highway 99.

He was traveling north when his vehicle left the highway north of Whitmore Avenue and drove through a fence and then into a house in the 2200 block of Herndon Road.

The California Highway Patrol reported that no one was injured, but further details about what caused the crash were not available Thursday.

Neighbor Kellee Farris said the 20-year-old man who was driving the vehicle told her that another driver had cut him off. Farris said the house the driver hit is vacant.

“It sounded like a big dump truck just crashed into the side of the building,” Farris said. “Me and my neighbor ran out there, and he was already out of the car by the time we got to him. He came back later and thanked everyone for their help.”
