Nuts drop ninth game in a row

May 15, 2014

The Modesto Nuts extended their losing streak to nine games Thursday night when Rancho Cucamonga’s Adam Law singled through the left side to drive in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th, making it 6-5 at the Epicenter. It was a frustrating loss for the Nuts (10-31), who rallied to tie from deficits of 3-0 and 5-3. A two-out solo home run by Trevor Story (3-for-5, 2 RBIs) drew Modesto even 5-5 in the seventh. But in the 10th, the Quakes’ Steven Proscia singled off reliever Raul Fernandez, advanced on a passed ball and, with two out, scored on Law’s hit. The Nuts, after dropping all three at Rancho Cucamonga, continue their roadtrip with four games beginning tonight at Lake Elsinore.
