Stansislaus County Sheriff’s detectives Wednesday released the identity of a homicide victim found earlier this month in a Turlock field, and they are asking for help finding the man’s killer.

The family of Manuel DaSilva, 54, of Livingston went looking for him May 6 when he did not return from work. They drove to a field on South Walnut Road near West Greenway Avenue, where they found DaSilva deceased.

Authorities are not releasing further details, including how DaSilva died.

They are asking anyone with information on the case, or who may have seen anything suspicious in the area between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. that day to contact Detective Greg Buck at (209) 525-7103. Tips also can be left anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636.
